While listening to Paul Blackford's "Fireflies",
I was tripping, yes, coming to going between reverie of country side and clamor of urban life.
The village has a clear stream, trees swaying in the wind, dancing fireflies with moonlight.
Decoded: elaborated hi-hat works, groovy bassline, floating pads, and shiny melodies.
"Well well, this strong snare sounds like a branch snapped off in darkness!"
This EP complements my fuzzy memory bout the view of fireflies's home when I saw em in childhood,
but suddenly, a vision came across to me more suitable for my ordinary boring life.
A night in summer,
I drive my car and watching weird streams of headlights on Shuto Expressway (Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway),
a blinked construction site, illuminated buildings because a ton of overtime works,
glittered advertisements which are full of faint smile.
In river of headlights, in forest of buildings,
people spend the night as thinking of one's own self or somebody.
I enjoy this overlap of fantasy village life and real urban life,
and light my cigarette (named 'peace light' and unfortunately it's get damp now).
To be honest, this place where I'm living is not near eitherthe village and expressway though,
I have a soundtrack "Fireflies" for sorrow of suburban city life, and kill the night with it.
Oops, now I'm afraid of I fucked up too much to tell how this EP is good cause my silly poetic review!
Before you call me a wanker, let me tell you my favs.
"Syndicate"
Great refrain melody which reminds me "KEIZOKU (Japanese cult mystery TV drama show, I'm big fan)",
electronic piano like drops, pulsing bassline, very impressive.
"Latitudes"
Very lyrical melody bring fresh air and a little bit sentimental mood.
I feel same atmosphere on Mrs.Jynx's music.
Like it!
"Moonlight"
Like Mid 90's down tempo which was rised by post drum 'n' bass producers.
Electronic-Soul track. Electronic piano makes good vibe zone.
"Fireflies" isn't too much 'Chill', and I bet this EP grabs IDM fan's heart.
In my opinion, making good down tempo music is difficult than you imagine.
Damn, PB is the man.

What an awesome production. Every single track is killing it, can't really choose a favorite here! Reminds me of Flying Lotus and old times :) Drexcited
