SUNTRAさんとは6.7年前にパーティーで共演する機会があって、その時ライブをみたチミドロのメンバーがCD-Rを買い、それをみんなで車の中で繰り返し聴いていた。今年になって再び同じイベントに出る機会があって、フュージョンやvaporwaveへ接近しつつも独自のテクノ道を貫き通している姿に感動した。
そして、わたせせいぞう作品の登場人物を連想させる爽やかな笑顔は相変わらずだった。新しい音源を切望していたので「Beta Horizon」のリリースがとても嬉しい。この音源ではBreezin'でカラフルな「わたせ面」より、どちらかというとインテリジェンスな響きが強調されているけど、どの曲もSUNTRAさんらしく、光に満ち溢れて眩い感じがする。クラブ帰りの朝の電車か、部屋についてから眠るまでまでのひと時に聴きたい！

The very retro vibe of "Nebular Odyssey" the opening track of SUNTRA´s new Beta Horizon EP, released on the excellent Japanese Tokyo Electro Beat Recordings, promises honest and true retro-future electro with subtle bass and synth lines. And SUNTRA makes good on his promise, taken us through his "Chrome Ocean" of melody, via the complex title track "Beta Horizon" with its sudden but perfectly executed beat change into the sublime and energetic "Crystal Circuit", reminiscent of retro future videogames. All in all, a sonic synth-voyage Trough the solid retro futuristic world of SUNTRA.
